ASHIMA: I know that I was living with mental health symptoms since I was probably seven years old.
ASHIMA: I remember not speaking, ‘cause I was isolating. I was pulling away from the world.
ASHIMA: I think people fear mental health because they don’t understand it. I think there’s a huge lack of education that is missing in a lot of our society.
ASHIMA: The first time I shared my story, I was so nervous and I was so scared. But the truth was, I always wanted to talk about it, because that in itself is therapeutic.
ASHIMA: Once I share, I get to find so many others who can relate, and that connection, for me, it beats so many things in this world.
